Doomacre (/doomacre/ [Translation Unavailable]) is a subtropical Town located in Spellviolet Dutchy, Ipoulan Kingdom, within the Sylvanian Empire.

The name Doomacre is derived from the Sylvin language, as Doomacre was founded by Dyënh Bresm Shonmthega Simon Meale Wimshurst, who was culturaly Sylvin.

Climate

Doomacre has a yearly average temperature of 14°C (57°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a cool 17°C (62°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cool 12°C (53°F). Doomacre receives an average of 251 cm/y (98 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of snow during the pleasantly short winter months. Doomacre covers an area of nearly 6 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 1190 m (3904 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Doomacre was founded durring the late 20th century in late fall of the year 1970, by Dyënh Bresm Shonmthega Simon Meale Wimshurst. The establishment of Doomacre suffered from several major issues, resulting in the need to develop many solutions to basic problems. Problems such as a lack of fresh water, logistical support, poor quality tools, and the odd monster or two. Howeaver, these were overcome in time.

Doomacre was built using the conventions of Sylvin durring the late 20th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Doomacre is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature timber and earth construction, with most buildigns first floors resembling mounds of earth, with subsequent floors appearing as elaborate log cabins, with each building forming a tiered pyramid of sorts fromed from the stack of rectangular, peek roofed cabins. Most wooden bracing, support, and trim is carved with decorative knotwork, and the larger structures even feature painted trim which emphasises the knotwork.

Doomacre is buildings are arranged within a network of crampt cobblestone streets which form a rectangular grid, where each block verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller block has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town sits behind an impressive looking clay brick wall. The wall is notable for querried stone blocks being used to renforce the clay bricks in the expected manner and locations. While the wall was built to the exact specifications of modern fortifications, one has to wonder why the money invested into creating such a well fortified wall wasnt spent on a less impressive looking wall crated from sturdier materials. Doomacre's walls would endure a brief bombardment, but only from light siege weapons. It seems more likly the town's walls were not designed with defence in mind but rather lending the town a certain air with visitors. The town's boondoggle-of-a-fortified wall are visibly old, but also obviously well maintained. Its likly the local malishia or garrison are tasked with routine mantance of the town's defences.

Your first impression of Doomacre proves to be right on the money. This town is where the rebels chose to settle. Fashion trends are quite simply the opposite of what’s popular in the other nearby communities. THis trend extends everywhere. Things that should be black are white, what would normally be square is organically curved, and what is typically unthinkable for polite society is more than welcome in this public square. Up to the logical limits, of course. There’s no flaying someone alive to eat their skin going on, but the women are dressed a little immodestly, the men are a little more emotional, and the food is all overly complex and terrible.

Civic Infrastructure

Doomacre has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Doomacre. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Doomacre's parks.

Doomacre has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Doomacre.

Doomacre has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Doomacre has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Doomacre has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Doomacre's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Doomacre possesses an older civil lighting system consisting of street lamps. These lights provide nighttime illumination to most city streets.

Doomacre has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Doomacre's natural decorations nor waterways.

Doomacre has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Doomacre has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

A substantial minority of the locals are descended from foreigners alien to their local neighbors. They may have been religious exiles, economic migrants, indigenous locals surrounded by the existing polity, or a foreign settlement conquered within the relatively recent past. The locals may not be enthusiastic about being ruled by others not of their kind, and their neighbors may look askance at the way foreign customs or even laws may be maintained.

Doomacre's town hall was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by dynamic designs and complex architectural plan forms; intended to heighten feelings of motion and sensuality, and frequently based on the oval. It made extensive and extreme use of: Grandeur, Contrast, Curves and twists, Rich surface treatments, Gilded statuary, Bright colors, Vividly painted ceilings, Fragmented or deliberately incomplete elements, Large-scale frescoes, Dramatic central projections on an external facade, the use of plaster, stucco, or marble finishing, Illusory effects such as trompe l’oeil, and pear-shaped domes. While beloved by the nobility, the common folk tended to despise the style due to the massive consumption of resources required for even a small building constructed in this style.

In Doomacre rain occurs in reverse with water pooling up from the earth then falling into the skies to from clouds, this unsettles every visitor that sees it.

The Ramidreju near Doomacre are known to be quite timid.

Doomacre's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in summer and involves sacrificing an animal to channel Charm energies of tier 3 via singing.

Economy

POI

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century, Doomacre was attacked by savage tribes living nearby Doomacre. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Doomacre lost 175 people, 245 livestock, and 31 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 32, when members of Doomacre's militia enacted an operation to delay the operations of the enemy. The operation was complicated by a natural disaster interrupted the operation, shattering unit cohesion. The conflict ended with pitched battle between both forces, which ended in a crushing defeat for Doomacre's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Doomacre's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
